Higher turnover for Dutch hotels and restaurtants

Hotels and restaurants in particular have experienced a 1.3% turnover increase in the third quarter of 2016. Hotel industry in the Netherlands

From the second quarter of 2016 to the third quarter the hotel industry experienced a 3.1% increase in turnover. At the moment the hospitality industry is taxed at 21% and food and non-alcoholic beverages are taxed at a rate of 6%. A tourist tax of 5,00 EUR is incurred to visitors of the Netherlands.

Catering industry in the Netherlands

The third quarter of 2016 marked important economic results for the catering industry. Pubs and restaurants have reported an increase of 0.7% and snack bars experienced a 0.6% increase. Statistics Netherlands found that the reason for these increases was as a result of tourists booking extra nights on their holiday and spending more money on refreshments. Consumers did not seem to react negatively on the price increases that took place and this sector flourished.
